Is a dermatologist in training. He learned liposuction in 1990 at Graduate Hospital Philadelphia, under Julius Newmann,MD as course director. This course conducted by American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS). Some famous liposuction surgeons also gave their best techniques including Pierre Fournier (France), Julius Newmann (USA), and Jeffrey Klein (USA): the father of tumescent anaesthesia.
As the first Indonesian doctor who learn tumescent anaesthesia, he start doing liposuction at Restu Ibu Hospital, Balikpapan, KalimantanTimur (Borneo) and Mitra Keluarga Hospital in Jatinegara,Jakarta. At that time liposuction was very unpopular in Indonesia, due one death case in Jakarta several years before. No one believed that local anesthesia alone (tumescent anesthesia) can give excellent and very safe result. Now liposuction under tumescent anesthesia is a most safe and preferable procedures all over the world.
Between 1993-1999 in Jakarta Skin Center he did 708 liposuction cases from 378 patients ( 359 female and 19 male). The age from 14 (youngest) to 85 (oldest). The most common body part . In FEMALE: tummy (242/708), saddlebag(91/708), inner thighs (74/708), upper arms (72/708), back (57/708). In MALE : the most common area was love handle (12/19), chin, and followed by tummy and chest. The safety of this tumescent liposuction being proofed by most of the patients do more than one liposuction session. One hundred six patients got two liposuctions. Fifty patients got 3 liposuctions, and one patients got 11 times liposuctions on her body (!). The complications was very minimal : uneven skin/ irregularities, dizziness 6 hours after the suctions (2 cases), prolong hematoma (bruising) : 1 cases. There was no serious complications like emboli or death. This very safe procedures was achieved by limiting the amount of anaesthesia , limiting the fat removed and using local anaesthesia.
